Why is travel insurance needed?
Travel insurance covers most eventualities that could happen, including medical expenses, cancellation, damage or theft of personal belongings, plus much more. Most importantly it gives you peace of mind so you can enjoy your holiday to the full.
I’m thinking of booking my holiday, when do l need to think about travel insurance?
As soon as you book your holiday you are at risk of cancellation, therefore it is important to be covered by travel insurance before you book your trip or immediately after you have booked.
When does the insurance start and finish?
The cancellation section of the insurance comes into force immediately as soon as you have paid the insurance premium, covering you for cancellation. All other sections of the insurance are effective as soon as you depart home/work to undertake the trip. It is important to make sure your insurance covers you up until you arrive back at your home address in the UK.
What is Excess Waiver?
Most sections of cover are subject to an excess charge. This means that when you make a claim you will have to pay usually between £30 to £250 for each and every claim per person claiming. For a small additional premium, paid at the time of purchasing the insurance, you will not have to pay an excessive amount if you make a claim (not applicable to Annual Cover, Hazardous Activity and Medical Screening Excess).
